Recent advances in AI and Machine Learning are hugely exciting, and offer content marketers lots of opportunities to improve the way they work.

There are certain things that AI is very good at, and others where it isn’t quite there yet.

As a creative, you don’t want to hand over control of your output to a soulless robot, you just want it to take care of the more boring tasks for you so you can get on at what you do best!

  • Smarter Scheduling.  AI is particularly good at picking out patterns that humans sometimes struggle to pick up easily.  A great example of this is scheduling when to publish your content.  Buffer has a tool that can help you target your audience at the perfect moment. Your individual audience will have a specific window in which they are most likely to engage with your content.  Working that out yourself would be a nightmare – so this is a great space where tools can help.
  • Crating Messaging Variations. You can spend a lot of time coming up with the perfect tweet to accompany your post when you share it on Twitter. What can you say to get the most amount of people to engage with it?! Thankfully there are tools out there which utilise AI to help make this easier.  MeetEdgar is a great example.  Simply hook up your site’s RSS feed and you’ll get a bunch of recommendations for messages to post alongside your content.
  • Format Transformation.  Once you’ve spent a lot of time working on the perfect post, you want to share it with as many people as possible.  You might want to create a video snippet to promote it, or come up with a cool Instagram story to get people to click through.  These can both take a lot of time, which could be better spent working on your next piece.  Thankfully, tools like Felix AI (plug alert) allow you to convert your posts into multiple new formats automagically.
  • Topic Research.  You want to be covering the topics which resonate best with your audience and want to tune into what they’re talking about.  There are lots of tools that can help you do this but one, in particular, is BuzzSumo.  This is a great tool for finding topics and influencers that your audience cares about – helping you write better-performing content.

We hope you found these useful – if you have any other suggestions we’d love to hear them in the comments!
